Digital Body Fat Calipers
For anyone who is trying to lose weight by dieting and exercise,
not knowing how you are progressing can rob you of your enthusiasm.
A great way to tell how much advancement you’ve made with
your current fitness routine is by using digital body fat calipers.
Many diseases are attributed to having a body fat percentage that
is too high. Some of these diseases include Heart Disease, High
Blood Pressure, Stroke, and High Cholesterol. By lowering your body
fat, you can reduce the risk of acquiring these illnesses and enjoy
greater and improved health.
Body fat comprises a certain amount of your overall weight, along
with other factors, such as muscle, tissue, and water. Yet, a scale
cannot differentiate between the amount of body fat or muscle that
determines your weight. Muscle weighs more than body fat, therefore,
it is possible to weigh more than your recommended weight allowance,
but to have a safe percentage of body fat. Using digital body fat
calipers is an excellent way to determine what your body fat percentage
is, no matter what your weigh on the scale.
Here are the ratings for body fat percentage for both male and
female.

By determining your target body fat percentage, you can use digital
body fat calipers to measure your progress to help accelerate your
results. Since you can easily use the calipers yourself, they should
be looked upon as a vital component to your physical fitness routine.
By tracking and measuring your progress you can then make the proper
adjustments to enhance your fat burning results. There are three
main areas where you will take a skin measurement with the calipers.
For men, the three areas are the chest, abdominal region, and thigh
area. For the chest, you will take a fold of skin that is half way
down between the nipple area and the anterior auxiliary line. You
will measure the abdominal region by taking a vertical fold that
is about 2 centimeters long vertical to the umbilicus. For measuring
the thigh area, you will take a vertical measurement midway between
the inguinal crease and proximal border of the patella.
Females will take their measurements in the triceps area, the waist,
and the thigh region. For the triceps, you will measure a vertical
fold that is taken between the shoulder and the elbow. The waist
is measured by taking a diagonal fold above the iliac crest. The
thigh is measured by taking a vertical fold on the thigh midway
between the inguinal crease and the proximal border of patella.
The calipers will automatically display your digital reading of
your percentage of body fat. You can also rest assured that your
calipers will produce the most accurate results.
